My name is Danna Zylka, and I am a storyteller currently based in Oakville, Ontario. While I am a newcomer to the world of songwriting, my journey into music is rooted in a lifelong passion for poetry and the profound power of human experience.

Turning Life Stories into Wisdom Songs

The spark for DanuAwen was ignited last year. After discovering the capabilities of AI-generated music, I realized I had found the perfect vehicle for the countless stories I’ve collected over a lifetime. I began transcribing these narratives, transforming hard-won lessons into what I call “Wisdom Songs.” Using Suno, I’ve been able to breathe melodic life into these tales, ensuring they are heard far beyond the pages of a notebook.

Inspired by the Matriarch’s Role

My vision was deeply influenced by a book exploring the critical role of mature women in society. It spoke of the matriarch’s duty: working tirelessly for the community by day, supporting younger generations, and gathering the youth at night to pass down wisdom through storytelling. I believe music is the most potent medium for this communication.

Music with a Mission

In a world where most music is designed solely for entertainment, I chose a different path. My goal is to imbue wisdom into every track. While my songs are designed to be enjoyed, I want every listener to walk away with a practical lesson—a kernel of insight they can apply to their own lives to become stronger and more resilient. Each piece is a reflection of the lessons and knowledge I’ve gathered through my own lived experiences. 

The meaning behind DanuAwen

Danu - The ancient Celtic mother goddess (and from my own name, Danuta)
Awen - The Welsh concept of poetic inspiration and flowing creative spirit, symbolized by three rays of light. It's what flows from Cerridwen's cauldron! 

It represents the Divine feminine wisdom (Danu) + Creative inspiration (Awen).
